As you probably already know the Bulldog heads were not completed in time for the contest.  After an all night thrash by myself and Chris Unger also of Memphis we made an attempt to run the engine anyway.  We installed a different cam to bleed off some cylinder pressure due to the Edelbrock heads we had available.  The results can be seen below.  The compression was way to high (13:1).  We are rebuilding the engine the way it was originally designed and with the Bulldog heads.  We will also test the new Edelbrock intake manifold #2810 and compare it to the Offenhauser Porta Sonic #6109.  This engine detonated so bad the heads (using 1/2 head studs) lifted and allowed water to run our between the heads and block and then resealed after the pull.  Had it not been for our new main support system (#DMR-22360-2-S) we would have positively lost the bottom end also.  We may have not done as well as we wished but remember we were the only ones brave enough to give it a try with the rules mandated.
